| Welcome
Janis Fry's paintings are in watercolour, ink and gouache, mixed media, acrylic and oil. Sizes vary from 1 to 4 feet, in any one dimension. Janis is a member of the Watercolour Society of Wales and finds watercolour in particular presents the opportunity to work with transparent veils of light and colour. Although her subject matter varies, she is essentially a painter of natural landscape, trees, the sea, and of Celtic mythology. In her work she is concerned with mood, atmosphere and those things half seen. She is fascinated by the boundaries between things and people and between worlds where one thing ends and another begins, by precise and indistinct edges, by merging, fading and emergence. An important motif is doors and ways through, particularly in rock and tree tunnels from one place or state to another. Work usually on view at The White Lion Street Gallery, Tenby and on their website (particular section 'past exhibitions'): www.artmatters.org.uk also at The Green Gallery, Rhossili, Gower. Janis Fry won an inspired tutor award and is a Specialist Art Teacher, available for booking as a workshop or course leader or as a demonstrator and presenter in all aspects of painting, drawing and mono printing.
